The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Mark 10:45

The Bible tells us about the Gospel, the good news, of Jesus Christ. From the Old and New Testaments, one consistent message is given about Jesus Christ. We can summarize the Gospel with four words: God, Man, Jesus Christ, Response

God

God is our Creator. He is loving, good, holy, and just. He is worthy of worship and is determined to never ignore or tolerate sin.

Man

People are made in the image of God with dignity, worth, and value. But through our willful, sinful rebellion against God we have rejected him and turned from being his children to his enemies. Everyone one of us will be held accountable to God.

but...

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man, whose sinless life gave him the ability to become the perfect sacrifice.  Through his death on the cross, Jesus Christ paid the penalty for the sins of all who come to him in faith. Christ’s resurrection from the dead proves who Jesus is and what he came to do.

Response

God expects us to respond in repentance and faith. He requires us to acknowledge our sin, repent, and believe in Jesus Christ. To repent of our sin means to turn away from our rebellion against God. We also turn to God in faith. Faith is reliance on Jesus Christ to save us with the understanding that we will follow him the rest of our days.
